Get a free Massive key for the CME futures screeners
CME Group futures prices are licensed, so to scan futures the screeners use your own free API key from Massive (formerly Polygon.io). It takes about two minutes and costs nothing. Crypto and crypto perpetual futures need no key at all.
Steps
- Sign up at massive.com. The free Basic plan of every product, futures included, works straight away, with no card.
- Open your API keys in the Massive dashboard and copy your key.
- Open any screener, for example the RSI screener, pick CME futures in the Market buttons, paste the key into the Add your free Massive key box and click Save key. The screener checks the key with Massive and starts scanning.
What it scans
About 25 of the most traded CME Group futures: E-mini S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Dow and Russell 2000; 2, 5, 10 and 30-year Treasuries; crude oil, natural gas, gasoline and heating oil; gold, silver, copper and platinum; corn, soybeans and wheat; live cattle and lean hogs; the euro, yen and pound; and CME bitcoin and ether. For each one it picks the front-month contract most traders are on (rolling to the next contract a few days to a few weeks before expiry, depending on the market) and shows the contract code, for example ESZ6. Prices are those of that single contract, not a back-adjusted continuous series, so moving averages can jump around a roll.
What the free plan includes
Massive’s free Futures Basic plan gives daily session candles that are 8 hours delayed, two years of history, and 5 requests a minute. Each contract needs one request, so the first futures scan takes about five minutes while the screener waits between requests (it shows a countdown). The candles are then kept in your browser for 30 minutes, so switching screeners or refreshing is instant. Massive’s paid futures plans remove the limit and the delay; the screener uses whatever your key allows.
Is my key safe?
Your key is saved only in your browser’s local storage, on your device. Your browser sends it directly to Massive with each data request; it never goes to ProScreeners’ servers. You can remove it at any time with the Remove button next to the screener’s results. Your use of the data is covered by your own agreement with Massive.
Why Massive?
The screeners run entirely in your browser, so the futures provider has to allow requests from web pages and offer a free plan. Massive does both and covers all four CME Group exchanges (CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX). For US stocks and ETFs, see how to get a free Alpaca key.
